“Approach an action with curiosity rather than perfectionism.” -Renae Fieck



First of all thank you for tuning in to my new podcast and for all the love and support. I appreciate each and every one of your messages of support and rating and review. In my first episode I shared a little about my journey in my career transition so I wanted to close out August and winter with a few extra notes on making changes. A lot can happen in three months so let’s dive into how this could happen for you if you wanted to make changes between now and December 2022 even when you don’t feel like you have clarity.

Making changes and transitions can feel overwhelming, and we can overthink it. But here’s the thing, changes only happen when we move. That’s why you will hear me talk about taking action, no matter how messy or imperfect it gets or feels at the time!

Here are some disruptive thoughts which may pop into your mind before you are about to take any type of action:

  • I need to wait till I have all the answers

  • But what if it fails?

  • What if I don’t get it right?

  • What will others think of my action?

  • It is not the perfect time

  • My branding is not perfect

  • My messaging is not perfect

Do you resonate with any of the above? That’s right, thinking that everything must be “perfect” before you take action will stop you making any changes or taking any steps, including taking that first step.

It is understandable that you want to keep things going as “right” as possible; that you have absolute clarity and want to look good and be good at what you do before taking that first step. However, most of the time, this perfectionism often will get you stuck and stagnated.

As I shared in my episode, I took action even though I did not have full clarity of my career transition but as the action steps are taken, the clarity came. What I found helpful was to approach my action towards that change with curiosity rather than perfectionism. Ask yourself along the way how it makes you feel, whether you like it, does it feel good to take a particular step or is there another way? Messy action equals results towards the change you want. Remember that our goals can be done in many different ways and there is no one right way.

I will leave you with one last activity for August, as you listen to the first episode of the TWP podcast, pick an area of your life that you want to enhance, whether it’s business, career, relationships, hobby and more. Then see whether you can take that small step towards the change you desire.
