It’s the growth that gets you to your goals

Happy New Year! Hope you have all had a wonderful restful break. To kick start the year and to continue the theme based on “growth” in the last two articles, I wanted to check in on how you did with the reflection and to add a couple of tools to keep the momentum going for you as mid-January slides in.

We know that setting goals is an important part of being results focused, however you can set all the goals you want but without growth, we can’t get to those goals. It would be helpful to ask yourself the following when you set a goal:

  • What growth needs to happen?

  • What mindset do I need?

  • What skills do I need to grow or to learn from scratch?

  • What aptitude do I need?

  • What is it going to take me to learn how to….?

By asking these questions, it allows you to build a growth path to the goal potential and it is up to you to set the growth you need to take in order for you to get there.

Another simple yet effective way to think about adding growth to your year is from the three L’s which Jay Shetty shared in his recent podcast. He refers to them as necessities to feel like we are thriving as humans as they evoke feelings we need to experience as we grow:

  • What do I want to learn this year?

o Ask what are you committed to learn this year? Is it a new skill for work or a personal one such as swimming, a language, or an instrument? You can then think about what coaching, mentorship, courses etc to learn it

o When you learn something new it gives you the feeling of improvement and growth

  • What do I want to launch this year?

o Is it a new side hustle or business, a book/ book club, a YouTube channel, a podcast, a community hub to share something, a new job or career?

o When you launch something, it brings you nerves, excitement and enthusiasm

  • What do I want to love this year?

o This question is about bringing you back to think about what you enjoy and love doing. Are you doing something that you deeply love?

o When you are doing something that you love it brings you joy and happiness.

Explore and articulate your 3 L’s this month and please share them with me. If you would like support to explore your growth this year, you're welcome to shoot me an email or book a call.

I wish you a beautiful day!

Natalie
