Three Letter Word to Help Grow Your Mindset

As I was working on expanding my business offerings, I got frustrated with how to take it to market and being stuck on it when I’m writing the sales page, making it link and flow with the brand and messaging and the day got worse as I had system issues and making that part work as well for the launch. Everything felt new and stuck, and more obstacles kept coming at me.

This is not uncommon as we set out with our goals working diligently towards them and then finding ourselves hitting an obstacle or obstacles, sometimes making us feel on the brink of wanting to give up as we put our hands in the air declaring we have no idea how to solve it.

At this point, we have two options:

  1. Freeze and give up/ walk away (flight)

  2. Rise to the challenge (say yes to the fight)

The first option is a common choice or maybe a common reaction as we face the threat (or what we perceive is a threat). The freeze response paralyses our cognition and ability to take action. You may also recognise all these thoughts in your head as well at this point: “I can’t do it/ there’s no solution/ I don’t know how to solve it etc.”.

If we want to choose option 2, how do we rise to the challenge? How do we fight for the unknown and unprecedented? One of the easiest things to do to get started with option 2 is to add the word 'yet' to our assessment of the situation:

“I can’t do it, YET.”

“There’s no solution, YET.”

“I don’t know how to solve it, YET.”

What this tiny three-letter word does is it backs up our mindset to acknowledge our potential to resolve the situation. It gives us permission to explore different scenarios and solutions. It also starts the process of reframing the threat – our brain starts to look for ways to help us step into the unknown or new level and eventually to stay comfortable in the new level.

Wishing you a beautiful day and here’s to your 'yet' providing you with courage to step into the unknown and unprecedented as you grow your career and business.

Much love,

Natalie
